June 19th:     Deadline for submission of Delegate Selection forms

July 19th:  Deadline for submission of Resolutions (*See examples of Resolution formats below)

September 8th:  Delegate packages sent to all confirmed Convention Delegates.


SAMPLE RESOLUTION IN TRADITIONAL FORMAT

TITLE: REGULATION No. 19 MEMBERSHIP DISCIPLINE

ORIGINATOR: YEU Local Y0–

LANGUAGE OF ORIGIN: E

WHEREAS the PSAC has a comprehensive harassment policy; and

WHEREAS the PSAC has a policy of zero-tolerance regarding harassment; and

WHEREAS founded charges of harassment are serious and warrant the suspension of membership; and

WHEREAS the Constitution of the PSAC requires a two-thirds vote of the National Board of Directors to discipline a member; and

WHEREAS placing the question of harassment and discipline before a political body leaves it open to political manipulation; and

WHEREAS this further victimizes the person who has been harassed:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Constitution of the PSAC be amended such that cases of harassment are referred to an independent impartial review committee, who shall investigate and render a decision; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the decision of such committee shall be binding on the parties involved without referral to the National Board of Directors.

YEU Triennial Convention, October 27-29 2017

Yukon Employees’ Union’s 7th Triennial Convention will be held October 27 – 29, 2017 at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre in Whitehorse Yukon.  Convention Call will be early in April 2017 and delegate selection will follow.  Locals hold AGM’s and Special General Meetings to choose delegates to represent their membership.

Locals, members & committees may submit resolutions to be considered by convention delegates. PSAC North’s Whitehorse Regional Office will be holding a Convention , perfectly timed for YEU members interested in participating in setting the direction of our Union for the next cycle.
